More Than a Fishing Team

The Northwest Rankin High School Fishing Team is about more than tournament competition and catching big fish. We are a team of student anglers brought together by a passion for the outdoors, a competitive spirit and a commitment to becoming better — on the water, in the classroom and in our community.

Our program provides students with opportunities to develop their skills as anglers while learning valuable lessons that will serve them throughout their lives.

Building Better Anglers

Success on the water takes preparation, knowledge, patience and the ability to adapt. Our student anglers learn to study conditions, develop strategies, make decisions and solve problems when things don’t go according to plan.

Through practices and competition, students continue to develop their understanding of the sport while building the confidence and skills needed to compete.

One Team, One Goal

While fishing may appear to be an individual sport, teamwork is at the heart of the Northwest Rankin Fishing.

Our anglers learn the importance of communication, preparation and supporting one another. They celebrate each other’s successes, learn from challenges and understand that the strength of a team comes from everyone working together.

Those lessons extend far beyond tournament day.

On the Water, In the Classroom and In the Community

Being a Northwest Rankin student angler means representing more than yourself.

Our team encourages students to be responsible, dedicated and respectful members of the Northwest Rankin community. We believe the same qualities that make a successful angler — discipline, perseverance, responsibility and a willingness to learn — can also help students succeed in the classroom and throughout life.

Our anglers proudly represent their school, families, sponsors and supporters wherever they go, and we recognize the important role our community plays in making this program possible.

Black & Gold Mission

The mission of the Northwest Rankin High School Fishing Team is to provide student anglers with opportunities to grow through competitive fishing while promoting:

• Leadership and responsibility
• Academic success
• Community involvement

Our Future

Every tournament is an opportunity to compete. Every day on the water is an opportunity to learn. And every experience as part of this team is an opportunity to grow.

At Northwest Rankin Fishing, we are developing more than successful anglers.

We are building confident students, stronger teammates, future leaders and responsible members of our community.
